Helping MIABE Hackathon prepare more learners for the next phase

A hackathon begins well before a team writes its first line of code. Participants need a chance to prepare, organizers need to identify who is ready to move forward, and teams need skills that complement one another. We worked with the MIABE Hackathon 2026 organizers to support these steps at a larger scale.

We provided the fata app for the training and qualification phase. The challenge brought together 1,440 participants, of whom 1,277 practised in the app after joining, during the challenge period. Web development, Python and Dart featured prominently in their learning.

The data also lets us look more closely at that work. During the challenge period, participants submitted nearly 593,000 answers and completed 8,018 modules between them.

The training led to a concrete opportunity: only participants who qualified could proceed to the next phase of the hackathon. Each received free Pro access and a PDF certificate bearing both fata and MIABE Hackathon branding, recognizing the work they had completed.

We also provided organizers with a tool for generating balanced teams. Supporting a hackathon means helping its organizers bring many individual learning journeys together into collaborative work.
