In Nairobi, taking DevFest into everyday practice

Developer gatherings give people a chance to discover ideas and share what they want to learn. With GDG Nairobi, we wanted to carry that energy beyond DevFest 2025 through a challenge in the fata app.

By the time the challenge closed on December 8, 311 people had joined. Of those, 298 practised in the app after joining, during the challenge period. Behind those figures is a concrete first step: opening a course and getting to work.

The prizes were presented at a separate gathering in Nairobi after DevFest. The photographs show another side of these challenges: a chance to come together and recognize learners’ work.

Thank you to GDG Nairobi for working with us, to our team in Kenya and to everyone who took part. We hope these opportunities to meet also encourage people to keep learning, one activity at a time.
